On October 7, 1985, the Achille Lauro, an Italian cruise ship carrying passengers from around the world, was hijacked off the Egyptian coast by a Palestinian commando. It was the beginning of a three-day ordeal, culminating in the murder of an American hostage and an armed standoff between two NATO allies to capture his killers.

Simone MANETTI is an Italian editor and director. A graduate in editing from the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema, he began working with director Paolo Virzì and edited the documentary The Man Who Got Picchiato on His Head (2009) and the feature film The Beautiful Thing (2010). The latter represented Italy for Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards.
