Long time ago, Geamăna was a Romanian village in the Apuseni Mountains, where about 1,000 people lived. Today, only the spire of the church emerges from the poisonous mud dumped by a nearby copper mine. Almost all the houses collapsed and their inhabitants fled. Only a few people remain in their homes. On the edge of the past, Valeria Praţa try to preserve her present – and is threatened by the future.
Matthäus WÖRLE studied journalism at the University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. He then benefited from a video journalism grant from the Mediencampus Bayern. He then held professional positions at the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Bayerischer Rundfunk and nautilusfilm GmbH. Today he works as a freelance video journalist and studies documentary cinema at the University of Television and Film in Munich.
