The island of Lesbos, birthplace of the Greek poet Sappho, saw lesbians from all over the world arrive in the 1970s. When they create their own community in the village of Eressos, tensions escalate with the inhabitants. The director, a native of the island and herself a lesbian, retraces 40 years of this story.
Tzeli HADJIDIMITRIOU is a filmmaker, photographer and writer. His previous short films focus on the question of gender, notably Sappho’s Granddaughters, Mr Dimitris and Dimitroula and Sappho singing.
