THE PriMed 2020 SELECTED FILMS ARE ONLINE!

Here the programme of PriMed online >> PROGRAMME PriMed online 2020

We are very sad to announce that the 2020 edition of PriMed will not be held in Marseille with its audience, its high school students, its members of the jury and its directors.
We will not meet you this year to discuss and debate, but above all, we do not want to give up. We cannot… principally for the work of the documentary filmmakers who have entrusted us sending to us their works.
Because the major Mediterranean issues not disappear during this covid epidemic, even if they are no longer in the spotlight.

This is why the 24th edition of PriMed will be held online!
As we have great directors, they have all agreed to follow us on this new adventure.
Throughout the week of November 28 to December 5, programming will be available free of charge every day on our website www.primed.tv. Only for users localized on French territory.

NON.OUI

75 minutes, 2020
Director : Mahmoud JEMNI (Tunisia)
Production : Klil Productions (Tunisia), Baburka Production (Italy), Play Production (Tunisia)

“Non.Oui” is about a young black graduate, originally from Gabes in south-eastern Tunisia, who returns to her homeland determined to use her communication skills to help her own people. But her many contacts open her eyes to discriminatory attitudes which run counter to the religious precepts and political choices of her country. “Non.Oui” also follows other protagonists of different age-groups, generations and social backgrounds, including an elected representative, someone from an association, a sociologist and a psychiatrist. The documentary deals with the issue of racism on historical, geographic, economic, cultural, psychological and social levels. An indictment against racism, through the eyes of strong, moving characters.

Mahmoud JEMNI was René Vautier’s assistant on the documentaries “Avoir vingt ans dans les Aurès” (1972) and “La folle de Toujane” (1974). He has made three short films with 11 or 12 year-olds. He has also produced and mentored short films made by adolescents. He is a film critic, author of the book “Quarante ans de cinéma tunisien : regards croisés”. in 2015 he created and is president of the Gabes Film Festival. His credits include the documentaries “Coloquinte” (2012), “Warda, la passion de la vie” (2015) and “Non.Oui” (2020).

BABEL SUR SCÈNE

57 minutes, 2019
Director : Dominique FISCHBACH (France)
Production : Elda Productions (France), with the participation of France Télévisions (France)

Seven 6th form students from the Paris district of Porte de La Chapelle are preparing an adaptation of Aeschylus’ tragedy “The Suppliants”. A 2,500-year-old work whose main themes are migration, the place of women and democracy. A film echoing current issues about migration and integration seen by a group of self-assured, happy, uninhibited teenagers.

Dominique Fischbach grew up in Morocco. She has written and directed some thirty films in direct cinema, personal documentaries for France Télévisions, Arte and RTBF in the well-known collection “Strip-Tease”. Generous and sensitive in her ways of seeing, she explores the major themes of society such as multi-culturalism, women’s emancipation and commitment. Among her best-received films, “Liberté Lili”, the difficult struggle of a woman from Guadeloupe to improve the area she lives in, “L’Avenir en Sursis” showing young delinquents confronted by adults’ justice, and “La Classe de Mer” about the delicate journey from childhood to adolescence.

LA TERRE PASSE

(THE EARTH PASSES)
14 minutes, 2019
Director : Anne RAVEAU (France) et Nicolas TRAVAUX (France)
Production : University of Aix-Marseille – département SATIS (France)

A large, transportable map of France, with Algerian towns superimposed in large format over different neighbourhoods of Marseille. It immediately illustrates the difficulties in talking about Franco-Algerian relations. The reactions are spontaneous, diverse and often lively. At the same time, in key places in Marseille small groups react to the map. At first spontaneous, what is said in front of the map gradually becomes more structured, some opinions are based on personal experience, others generalisations and re-hashing of history.

After studying at the IAD Institut des Arts de Diffusion in Belgium in the image section, Anne Raveau began to work in image management and then in production as an assistant. She then joined SATIS in Aubagne.

Nicolas Travaux studied performing arts in Montpellier. He then became involved in volunteer projects as cameraman or director. It was by joining the SATIS special photography course that he produced the documentary “La terre passe”. This allowed him to deal with two subjects which are important for him: colonialism and its heritage.
